On the first day of school at Jacksonville High School, janitor Pam Bundrum kept a close eye on the floors that she spent all summer stripping and waxing.
"I guess I'm ready for them to come back, I miss them," said Bundrum, still eyeing the glassy tile that would soon be scuffed under hundreds of sneakers.
"I'm ready for the school year to be over," joked Bundrum's coworker C.J. Jenkyn.
During the year, the janitors at Jacksonville High keep 40 classrooms, two gyms, 10 bathrooms, and a labyrinth of hallways clean.
"I'm worn out already," Jenkyn said.
