Resolution addresses traffic at Ohatchee Elementary School

OHATCHEE — Watch where you park and how you drive. The police will be paying close attention.

The City Council voted Tuesday to restrict parking on J Street in front of Ohatchee Elementary 30 minutes before and after school hours on school days.

The council also passed a resolution to lower the speed limit to 15 miles per hour on Cherokee Trail, Main Street and Warrior Road from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. on school days.

Mayor Joe Roberson said school officials were complaining about speeding. The parking disrupted traffic flow as well.

Fines for violations range from $50 to $100.
