The rules don't start on the second day of school.
As kids emerge from their buses at Tenth Street, teachers are welcoming them to be sure. But they're also dishing out a few reminders of the dress code.
"Tuck that shirt in," is the most common I've heard so far.
The kids are definitely clad in their loose-fitting clothing on this day with a triple-digit forecast high temperature. Some good news, though: The first sound heard from the parking lot this morning was the roar of classroom air-conditioning units.
"I'm glistening already," said one teacher as she hurriedly climbed the stairs.
In another reminder, a popular gathering spot this morning is on the rear entrance to the school, where green and white homeroom lists are posted.
